Building Green Homes, Backed by Science

Smart, trendy and responsible inside and out. The ultimate eco-friendly design solutions.

Building green isn’t a trend; it’s a responsibility here at Paltrin. From energy use to indoor air quality, every decision we make reflects a commitment to healthier living, long-term durability, and smarter design. Whether you’re starting fresh or upgrading an existing home, we integrate proven strategies and substantiate the work with third-party certifications to ensure your home performs beautifully inside and out.

What Makes a High-Performance, Sustainable Home?

A green home is more than just energy efficient. It’s designed for cleaner air, smarter resource use, and long-term savings. Paltrin built homes on average produce:

  • Save $300 or more annually on energy costs
  • Prevent over 6.5 Metric Tons CO2/yr
  • Deliver environmental benefits equal to planting 100 trees annually

We back these outcomes with certification and testing, not assumptions.

Minnesota’s Green Path Certification

This state-based program provides a Home Performance Report (HPR) for every certified home, showing how your home performs across the green building continuum. At its core is the HERS Index, the industry-standard score for measuring home energy use. Lower HERS scores mean better energy performance and greater savings.

The Home Energy Ratings System (HERS) Index is the INDUSTRY STANDARD by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured.

It’s also the NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.

*Stated number is a rating as assigned by a certified ratings service. The final rating number is assigned after final assessments are finished and the example shown is purely for demonstration purposes and not specific to any property featured on this site.

DOE Zero Energy Ready Home Partner

DOE Zero Energy Ready Home

As a DOE-recognized builder, we design homes that are so efficient that all or most of their annual energy use can be offset with renewable energy like solar. These homes represent the future of building, ready for resilience, savings, and sustainability.

EPA Indoor airPLUS

Indoor air quality matters. Poor air can contribute to asthma, allergies, and long-term health issues. With airPLUS certification, we address hidden pollutants, like mold, radon, and VOCs, by using materials and ventilation strategies that make your home healthier and safer for your family.

We’re committed to ongoing education, careful material selection, and smart implementation that balances performance with your unique project goals. • You have gone way beyond what either of us expected. We admire your enthusiasm for this type of work and hope that you are successful with it. Environmental degradation must be addressed, and passive homes and buildings should be part of the solution.

Thank you so much for all the time that you spent on this work. We deeply appreciate it.
